'Would Have Loved To See Rock There': WWE Legend On John Cena-Cody Rhodes Main Event At WrestleMania 41
Matt Hardy feels The Rock should have been present during the John Cena-Cody Rhodes fight at WrestleMania 41.

WWE legend Matt Hardy isn’t happy about how WrestleMania 41 ended in Las Vegas. Cody Rhodes lost his Undisputed Championship to a heel John Cena on Night 2 of the Show of Shows. Analysing the title bout on his Extreme Life podcast, Hardy questioned why Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson was nowhere to be seen in the event’s closing moments. “The biggest critique I have was that finish and protecting Cody and the way it was done," he said on YouTube.
The 50-year-old star believed the Brahma Bull should have been present during the fight, especially after playing a significant role in Cena’s recent character shift. “I would have loved to see Rock there," he added.

John Cena beat Cody Rhodes on the 41st edition of WrestleMania to win his record-breaking 17th World Championship. The leader of the Cenation didn’t win the match on his own. Travis Scott distracted the American Nightmare when he was close to retaining his title. After taking a Cross Rhodes, the rapper and songwriter pulled the referee out of the ring to ensure Cena didn’t get pinned. While Rhodes still had the upper hand, refusing to hit his opponent with the title cost him the match. Cena hit the champion with a low blow before nailing him with the belt. Several fans expected the Rock to show up when the 17-time champion wrapped the silverware around his waist, but the Brahma Bull didn’t arrive.
Matt Hardy claimed The Rock’s presence would have made the story more fulfilling. “I felt like The Rock being there would have made sense, it would have kind of tied everything together that was part of the story," he said. While Hardy was disappointed with how the match ended, he was impressed with how John Cena performed. “The match, when I watched it back, especially the match they had between one another. You had Cody kick out of multiple [Attitude Adjustments], right? He escaped the STFU a couple of times. I thought, especially for what I expected for John, John being older, I still thought he had a real solid match for a main event when it was all said and done," he said.
Since winning the WWE Undisputed Championship at WrestleMania 41, John Cena appeared on this week’s episodes of RAW and SmackDown. On both live events, the 17-time champion found himself on the receiving end of an RKO from Randy Orton. Amid Cody Rhodes’ absence from the WWE, it seems the Viper will rekindle his rivalry with Cena at WWE Backlash in May.
