'We're The League Of Farmers, Eh?': Luis Enrique Shushes PSG Critics Hilariously
Enrique also dispelled all talk of Arsenal being the 'better team', emphasising the outcome, while still giving the Gunners their flowers for the contest.

Ligue 1, a ‘farmer’s league’? No worries, says Luis Enrique, whose PSG plowed through four different Premier League teams during their run in the Champions League this season to earn their spot in the final against Inter.
Much has been said about the standard of competition in the French domestic leagues (hence being colloquially called a farmer’s league). Whilst true, what is equally undeniable is the sheer quality that PSG have showcased this season.

But, after being told that PSG had reached the Champions League final after defeating four Premier League teams (Manchester City, Liverpool, Aston Villa, and Arsenal), Luis Enrique took a moment to poke fun, stating that the “league of farmers" had come out on top.

‘We are the league of farmers, no? The league of farmers?" Enrique stated hilariously in an interview with TNT Sports.
“It’s nice, though. Now, we are enjoying the results and the compliments from all over."
“We are a young team. The mentality, the character, and how we play football: I need to congratulate my players for being great," he added.
Enrique also dispelled all talk of Arsenal being the ‘better team’, emphasising the outcome, while still giving the Gunners their flowers for the contest.
“Over the two legs, we scored more goals than they did, and in football, it’s the most important thing. But Arsenal played a great game and we suffered a lot," the Spaniard said after PSG’s 2-1 win in the second leg in Paris secured a 3-1 aggregate triumph.
It has not been a cakewalk to the final for PSG, who started their Champions League campaign with three losses on the trot, including a 2-0 defeat to Arsenal, but persisted.
They also relied on the heroics of goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma yet again last night to keep them in the lead against the Gunners and eventually seal the deal.
“The fact that we had such a difficult set of fixtures in the league phase helped the team improve and grow," Enrique exclaimed.
“The statistics showed we were one of the best teams in Europe, and when we started to be more clinical, in a short competition, I think we have shown that we deserve to be in the final."
“It is the match in which we suffered the most (in the Champions League), but we deserve to get to the final," added Luis Enrique.
PSG will now face Inter Milan in the final in Munich on May 31 after an extraordinary run in the competition, which culminated in the Nerazzurri ousting Enrique’s beloved Barcelona in a tie that ended 7-6.
It will be PSG’s second Champions League final, five years after they lost 1-0 to Bayern Munich in Lisbon, in their hunt for their first-ever UCL trophy.
