US Loses Second $60M F-18 Super Hornet Jet as Houthis "Attack USS Truman" After Trump Declares Truce
A US F-18 Super Hornet fighter jet was lost in the Red Sea on May 6, in second such incident in about a week. The jet was lost after tipping off the flight deck of the Harry S Truman aircraft carrier. Reuters reported citing unnamed US officials. The officials said the fighter jet failed to come to a proper halt after landing on the carrier. Both members of the crew ejected before the jet plunged into the water and were recovered by a rescue helicopter, the report added. The jet crashed into the sea and has not been recovered, two of the people familiar with the incident said, CNN reported. Last week, another fighter jet fell overboard from the Truman, which has been aiding US strikes against Yemen's Houthi fighters.Initial reports indicated that the Truman made a hard turn to evade Houthi fire, which contributed to the fighter jet falling overboard. Separately, the Iran-backed Houthi rebel group “took a shot” at the Truman on May 6, just hours after Trump announced “a ceasefire,” CNN reported. n18oc_world n18oc_crux0:00 INTRODUCTION2:20 ISRAELI MILITARY POUNDS SANAA AIRPORT4:30 US AND HOUTHIS AGREE TO OMAN-MEDIATED CEASEFIRE6:12 “INDIRECTLY INFORMED…” HOUTHIS’ MESSAGE TO AMERICANS
