Saif Ali Khan's Jewel Thief 2 In The Works? Kunal Kapoor REVEALS Truth | Exclusive
Kunal Kapoor opined that a sequel would give a chance to delve into unexplored character dynamics.
Saif Ali Khan, Jaideep Ahlawat and Kunal Kapoor’s Jewel Thief: The Heist Begins ends on a cliffhanger, hinting at a sequel. The suave Saif has his eyes set on another artefact he has to steal before the determined Kunal catches wind of his plans. In an exclusive conversation with News18 Showsha, Kunal Kapoor opens up about the film’s potential sequel. Kunal also recalls working with Saif and gives an update on the superstar’s health.
Kunal Kapoor tells us, “I’m not sure if the sequel is in the works. But everybody thinks it would be fun to have a sequel. It is the kind of story that lends itself to a sequel. There are a lot of interesting character dynamics that haven’t been explored in this part, which another part would give you a chance to explore. But I’m not sure what’s going on."

The actor recalls his “fun" time on the Jewel Thief set and mentions, “What makes a film fun or not fun is the kind of people you’re shooting with. The directors are people I’ve known, they’re cool. The producer, Sid (Siddharth Anand), is somebody I’ve already worked with. I’ve known him for many years. Saif is a really cool guy. Jaideep, Nikita, and everyone in the unit got along quite well."
“The other thing is the opportunity to do something you’ve never done before. Usually, I’ve been cast as the poet and the philosopher. This was the first time I was cast as somebody who speaks less and does more action. It was fun to do a part different from anything I’ve done before," he adds.
Earlier this year, while the film was in post-production, Saif Ali Khan sustained multiple injuries while protecting his family from an attempted robbery at his Bandra home. The actor had to undergo surgery and was seen in bandages during the film’s promotions. However, Kunal Kapoor has assured that Saif has fully recovered from his spine injuries. Kunal says, “Yeah, he seemed absolutely fine. He seemed completely fine."
Meanwhile, Kunal now has his eyes set on Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana. The actor will begin shooting for the film soon. Kunal will be seen as Lord Indra in the Ranbir Kapoor-led venture.
