On Thursday evening, Pakistan resorted to a major escalation and fired its drones and missiles into parts of Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab and Rajasthan. Indian air defence systems — S-400 and Akash — downed all of them midair before they could strike their intended targets in India, except for one drone which managed to make a fall on the Jammu Civil Airport.
India launched counter-strikes and dispatched its drones into Islamabad, Lahore and Sialkot. Pakistan also targeted village areas in Jammu and Kashmir with its artillery strikes and firing, making a mockery of the ceasefire. The Indian Army retaliated swiftly, the officials said.
