Mumbai: Real-Time BEST Bus Tracking Live On Google Maps, Available In Marathi & Hindi Too
Even though Google Maps earlier offered public transport details, this upgrade now provides live, real-time updates for Mumbai’s key transport systems.

Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Wednesday launched a new service that allows Mumbai commuters to track BEST buses in real time using Google Maps.
The service is available in three languages – English, Marathi, and Hindi, making it accessible to a wide audience.

“People will now be able to know exactly which bus is arriving when. This will help save time and make travelling easier," said Fadnavis, as per Hindustan Times.
Mumbai joins over 15 Indian cities already offering live transport data through Google Maps.
What’s New for You?
No more waiting blindly at the bus stop. With this service, you can now:
- See which bus is coming
- Know exact arrival times
- Get updates in real time
How to Use the Service
Using the new feature is simple:
- Open Google Maps on your phone.
- Type your destination and click on ‘Directions’.
- Tap the train icon to see public transport options.
- You’ll now see a mix of buses, trains and metro, along with real-time arrival times.
You can also search for a specific bus stop to see which buses are arriving soon.
The BEST team has been working closely with Google for the past two months to make this happen. They used a system called General Transit Feed Specification (GTFS), which allows apps to show live transit information.
“This is not just about BEST buses," said BEST General Manager SVR Srinivas. “The system also includes local trains and metro services, making it a truly multimodal experience."
Roli Agarwal from Google said, “This is a big step towards giving accurate and full public transport details to Mumbai’s commuters."
