Mouni Roy On Her Bond With Disha Patani: ‘Two Heroines Can Definitely Be Friends’ | Exclusive
Mouni Roy bats for sisterhood as she talks about her close friendship with her contemporary, Disha Patani, and adds how one's vibe catches one's tribe.

Thanks to the gossip columns of the 1980s and the 1990s, one always assumed that two women actors can never get along. While most times these speculations are manufactured, there have been many instances of how competition, rivalry and underlying insecurity has impacted relationships. Having said that, friendships between two leading ladies aren’t unheard of. Speaking to us earlier, Raashii Khanna had revealed how her equation with ‘old friend’ Vaani Kapoor has, in fact, deepened despite successes, failures and fame.
And now, Mouni Roy opens up on her close camaraderie with Disha Patani. The duo has often caught the attention of the shutterbugs, who’ve captured them being spotted out and about in the city. Their vacation pictures on social media on multiple occasions have also set major friendship goals. In an exclusive chat with News18 Showsha, Mouni bats for ‘sisterhood’ and says, “Two heroines can definitely be friends. It has got nothing to with the profession that you’re in. You could be a doctor, an engineer or a builder and still find friends. I truly believe that your vibe catches your tribe."

For Mouni, her friends are like family and Disha is clearly no less. “You’re operating on a certain energy level and if you find somebody matching that same energy, you’ll bond. It has got nothing to do with the profession. There’s nothing like women friendship. Sisterhood is very important to me. Having a group of women who’re your thick friends is like your entire family. You can find a mother, a father, a brother and a sister in them," she tells us.
In her latest release, The Bhootnii, Mouni was seen sharing screen space with Palak Tiwari. In an interview recently, the latter heaped praises on the Brahmastra: Part One – Shive actor and added that it goes against the perception that women aren’t always to be kind to each other. Reacting to it, Mouni remarks, “The boys don’t like it if the girls talk about each other (laughs). The point is we don’t know each other very well but we respect and love each other a lot. When you’re on a film set where everything is so collaborative in nature and you’ve to see each other every other day, you’ll have to find the right person."
Mouni, in fact, considers both of them ‘lucky’ to have found each other and the rules out any kind of ‘animosity’ between them. “If there’s any unpleasantry, a negative vibe or you not getting along with your female co-actor, it gets very difficult to work and say the dialogues with that person. And in that process, the honesty of the craft gets lost. I’m glad we met each other through the making of this project. We genuinely like each other and each other’s company. We gave one another the space when necessary but at the same time, we could come together, sit down and joke around," she says.
