Mock Drill Today: India announced a nation-wide mock drill today, May 07, in order to prepare citizens on air-raid sirens, train people about evacuation protocols and other important procedures. It is an attempt to prepare citizens against unwanted situations including a hostile attack on the country amidst the heightened India-Pakistan tensions.

    Meanwhile, India launched a retaliatory military operations known as ‘Operation Sindoor’ on ‘terrorist infrastructure’ in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
    There are speculations and doubts among citizens if banks and stock market are closed due to mock drill today.

    Are Banks Open Or Closed Today? 

    Banks will remain functional as normal days on Wednesday, May 07.

    Mock drills will be conducted in most states from 4 pm in the evening across the country.

    As per RBI’s instrument holiday list, banks across the country are open without any hindrance.

    Bank Holidays In May 2025: Banks To Remain Closed For 12 Days, Check State-Wise List

    Banks across India will be closed for a total of 12 days in May, including national and state-specific holidays, as well as routine closures on Sundays and the second and fourth Saturdays.

    According to the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) holiday calendar under the Negotiable Instruments Act, banks observe closures based on local festivals, regional observances, and designated weekends. Both scheduled and non-scheduled banks follow this framework.

    Bank Holidays in May 2025 (State-wise)

    May 1 (Thursday) – Labour Day / Maharashtra Day: Banks will be closed in Belapur, Bengaluru, Chennai, Guwahati, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Imphal, Kochi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Nagpur, Panaji, Patna, and Thiruvananthapuram.
    May 9 (Friday) – Rabindranath Tagore Jayanti: Banks in Kolkata will remain closed.
    May 12 (Monday) – Buddha Purnima: Banks will be closed in Agartala, Aizawl, Belapur, Bhopal, Dehradun, Itanagar, Jammu, Kanpur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, New Delhi, Raipur, Ranchi, Shimla, and Srinagar.
    May 16 (Friday) – State Day: Bank holiday in Gangtok.
    May 26 (Monday) – Birthday of Kazi Nazrul Islam: Banks in Agartala will be closed.
    May 29 (Thursday) – Maharana Pratap Jayanti: Bank holiday in Shimla.
