Kantara Chapter 1: Rishab Shetty Resumes Work On Film, Begins Last Shoot Schedule
The Hombale Films’ Kantara: Chapter 1 is prequel to 2022 blockbuster of the same name. It stars Rishab Shetty in the lead.
When Kantara was released in 2022, it was widely loved by the audience. Bringing a story from the heartlands of India, the film emerged as the biggest sleeper hit. This has laid a strong foundation for the film’s sequel, Kantara: Chapter 1, with audiences eagerly waiting for its release.
Amidst peak anticipation for Kantara: Chapter 1, the film has now entered its final shooting schedule. The last schedule of Kantara: Chapter 1 started on Wednesday, May 7. The shooting location is about 20 km from Kundapur, Karnataka. More details are awaited.

Previously, it was reported that makers curated an extensive war sequence for Kantara: Chapter 1, which was crafted by national and international specialists. They hired over 500 skilled fighters for the sequence, curating a never-before-seen fight sequence. This power-packed sequence featured 3000 people, making it one of the biggest sequences in the history of Indian Cinema.
Kantara: Chapter 1 is set in the Kadamba period in Karnataka. The Kadambas were significant rulers of parts of Karnataka and played a major role in shaping the architecture and culture of the region. That period was known to be a Golden Period of Indian History.
Rishab Shetty is not just playing the lead in Kantara but is also directing it. It was in 2023 that Shetty announced that what the audiences saw was actually part 2 and therefore what will be released next will be Kantara’s prequel.
“We are very pleased and thankful to the audience who had shown immense love and support to Kantara and taking the journey ahead, with the blessing of almighty Daiva the film has successfully completed 100 days and I would like to take this opportunity to announce the prequel of Kantara. What you have seen is actually Part 2, Part 1 will come next year," he had said.
Kantara: Chapter 1 will hit theatres on October 2, 2025.
