Held once every four years at one of the four locations in India, the Maha Kumbh Mela is one of the most significant religious congregations. The cultural extravaganza is being held from January 13 to February 26 in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh.
Prayagraj Airport, located 13 km from the city of Bamrauli, offers regular flights from major cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Kolkata, and Hyderabad.
Meanwhile, devotees who cannot find a suitable flight directly to Prayagraj, can consider flying to nearby airports and then travelling to Prayagraj via road or train.
A few alternate airports are Varanasi Airport (Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport), Lucknow Airport (Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport), and Kanpur Airport (KNU).
Prayagraj is well-connected to major cities across India through its extensive railway network, with eight key stations, including Prayagraj Junction, Rambagh, Sangam, and Naini Junction.
Regular trains from cities like Delhi (Rajdhani Express, Vande Bharat), Mumbai (Mahanagri SF, Saket SF), and Kolkata (Howrah-Prayagraj Express) ensure easy access for visitors to the Maha Kumbh Mela 2025.
A few road routes from major cities include Delhi to Prayagraj (approx. 700 km via NH19), Lucknow to Prayagraj (approx. 200 km via NH30), and Varanasi to Prayagraj (approx. 120 km via NH19).
Additionally, government-run and private buses operate regular services to Prayagraj. State transport corporations such as UP State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) and private operators run AC and non-AC buses to Prayagraj from key cities.
The Uttar Pradesh government is expecting a footfall of 40-45 crore people at the Maha Kumbh 2025.
