9 Deadly Terrorist Attacks On Civilians In India
India has been under attack by terrorists several times. Here are a few of the deadliest ones in history that targetted civilians.
2025 Pahalgam Attack: On April 22, terrorists opened fire at unassuming tourists at the Baisaran Valley. It killed 26 people and injured several others.
2017 Amarnath Yatra Attack: On July 10, at least 8 Hindu civilian pilgrims, en route from Amarnath Temple in Kashmir Valley, were killed by militants.
2013 Bodh Gaya Bombings: On July 7, a series of 10 bomb blasts exploded in and around the Mahabodhi Temple complex. At least 5 people, including 2 Buddhist monks.
2010 Varanasi Bombing: On December 7, a bomb exploded during the evening aarti at Sheetla Ghat. At least 2 people were killed and injured over 35.
2010 Pune German Bakery Blast: On February 13, a bomb exploded at the iconic bakery. It killed at least 18 and injured over 50. The bakery is frequented by foreigners.
2008 Mumbai Attacks: The 26/11 attacks were carried out by 10 Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists, targetting iconic landmarks in the city such as the Taj Mahal Hotel, CST, and Leopold Cafe.
2008 Jaipur Bombings: On May 13, the tourist-friendly city was hit by a series of 9 bomb blasts in a span of 15 minutes. It killed 63 and injured over 200 people.
2005 Delhi Bombings: Just 2 days ahead of Diwali on October 29, the national capital was rocked by three explosions. It killed 62 and injured over 210.
2000 Red Fort Attack: On December 22, the UNESCO World Heritage Site was attacked by two terrorists. It killed 2 soldiers and 1 civilian.
