Ajay Devgn ‘Reduced Fees’ For Dhamaal 4, Reveals Bhushan Kumar: ‘He’s Producer’s Actor’ | Exclusive
Bhushan Kumar expresses his fondness for Raid 2 star Ajay Devgn and states he makes every producer feel 'comfortable' and understands their nerves.

Ajay Devgn’s upcoming film, Raid 2, is all set to hit the screens on May 1. The spiritual sequel to the 2018 film, Raid, delves further into corruption, power and intense drama, and will see Ajay Devgn return as Income Tax officer Amay Patnaik, facing off against his formidable opponent, Dadabhai, played by Riteish Deshmukh. The film is being produced by T-Series and Panorama Studios. Now, speaking exclusively to News18 Showsha, T-Series head honcho Bhushan Kumar heaps praises on Devgn and makes an interesting revelation surrounding their next collaboration, Dhamaal 4.
Talking about how the superstar decided to take a pay cut for the comic caper, he tells us, “We share a very good relationship. He’s a producer’s actor. Whenever you’re working on a film together, he makes you feel so comfortable. For instance, Dhamaal 4 was turning out to be a heavy-budget film. He told us that he’ll reduce his fee just so that we could make the film. He’s not like other actors. He understands producers. He always gives the first priority to the film."

Encapsulating their eight-year-long professional bond, the producer further adds, “I’ve had a long-standing relationship with him. We did Tanhaji, Raid and Drishyam. Our association began with Baadshaho. We’re now doing Dhamaal 4. De De Pyaar De 2 is also happening. I know that this association will continue for years to come. I’ve also done the music for most of his films. We’ll be releasing the music of Son Of Sardaar 2 as well."
As Kumar lauds Devgn, Panorama Studios’ Abhishek Pathak, who has also produced Raid 2, spills the beans on his experience of directing him in Drishyam 2. Drishyam 2 may have been just his second film as a director but he reveals how Devgn never interfered with his work. “Ajay sir’s a director’s actor. He never gets or interferes with the creative side of making a film. If he believes in the script and the director, he’ll never come to the monitor and tell you what to do. This has been my experience of directing him on Drishyam 2," Pathak recalls.
Pathak’s association with Devgn, in fact, spans decades. And he lauds the actor-filmmaker for guiding him but never mollycoddling him. Referring to him as ‘the most secure actor’, he shares, “I’ve known him since I was a child. The first time I met him, I was in school. He’s like a big brother to me. I’ve seen his journey. I’ve worked on his films as an AD and as a production guy. When I started working as a producer with him, I had this fear of how he’s going to be since he’s such a senior actor. But throughout the process of the shoot of Drishyam 2, he didn’t come to the monitor even once. He just came to me once and asked me if I’m doing okay."
On a related note, Raid 2 is directed by Raj Kumar Gupta and also stars Vaani Kapoor.
